What's a good beginner microphone to start off with?

First thing you should know: Never buy the Blue Yeti.

This is the bane of every budding podcaster - they think it's easy to work with, that it's just plug-and-play and people talk about it having 'different modes so it'll cancel out all the noise around me.'

Uhhhhh no.

Both are good starter cardiod dynamic microphones, USB plug-and-play, and will get most of it's sound in one direction. Think of it as a sort of...karaoke microphone.

You WANT to sound good (or at least decent enough) that your listeners can stand your sound quality.

Nope.Β
